1 Sure Way To Hack Into Your Upsets

December 12, 2017

Hack into your upsets!

There is enough to get us upset

There is always enough around us to get us upset.

It could begin in the morning with the milkman who came in late, or the food that didn’t taste great or the traffic snarls while getting to work. It could be the events appearing in the newspaper or on television.

At work, it could be the boss who never seems to understand you or the unreasonable customer or the work politics. It could be your career that doesn’t seem to go anywhere. You could return home to new demands from the family, working through the child’s complex homework, the bills to be paid or the demands of managing relationships. The upsets of your near and dear ones automatically become your upsets.

You become an expert at getting upset

Once you begin getting upset, you also get good at it. You get upset with smaller things and with more number of things. Your upsets are now more frequent and longer lasting. By this time, you have become a master of upsets. As a master, you find yourself in the midst of others’ upsets. You begin commenting on their upsets and now your own upsets are fueled with more power.

In the new digital world, you can now almost subscribe to upsets. It is like you can curate your own incoming traffic of upsets. You will begin choosing such news or websites, subscribe to such doomsday sites and blogs.

You find like-minded upset people to be a great company and when you interact with them, you exchange upsets and make each others’ upsets much bigger than what they were. By now, you have gained enough credits to qualify as an upset-evangelist. You take upon yourself the responsibility to propagate upsets. You begin attracting a following of people who are also upset. By now, only things that are upsetting catch your attention.

By this time, you see a world that is crumbling and decaying. You maintain a demeanor that represents this view. You have a long and serious face, you are always off-mood, irritable and trigger-happy.

Let me assure you here. You are certain to be a weary Life traveler.

A different life

What if you wish a different life? A life where you deal with your challenges with courage, hoping that you will overcome them. That tomorrow is better than today.  That there is a fascinating future ahead of you and for your near and dear ones. What if you could be optimistic and hopeful, despite everything that is going on around you?

One way you can do this is to create lofty Life goals for yourself. Goals that engage you with a laser focus, goals that have the potential to build leadership in you. Goals that make you look forward to a new day every day, that make you hopeful and optimistic about Life. By achieving these goals, you will become a better You.  And as you are about to reach those goals, you create more new and engaging ones.

Let Life be an engaging pursuit of scaling a series of mountain peaks, one after the other. We need to be so engaged in the goals that we can put our upsets in perspective. Let our goals be so lofty and engaging that our upsets are dwarfed in comparison.

Because when you are on an airplane, you see no potholes.
