5 ways to beat the Monday blues

November 19, 2017

If you want to beat your Monday blues, begin working Tuesday through Saturday. Just kidding!

Monday blues are infamous but as long as there are Mondays, there are likely to be blues. Correct? Not necessary!

Here are 5 ways to beat your Monday blues:

  1. Visualize your Monday. Take some time off on a Sunday evening or on Monday early morning to visualize how you want your Monday to look like. Do you want to feel in control, inspired, powerful? Add sounds and vivid colors to the visualization. Visualize as if it is really happening. Play it like a movie over and over again.
  2. Rewind your Monday. Before retiring to bed, do a quick recap of how your Monday went. What went well? Anything that did not go as expected? What could you do differently the next day?
  3. Exercise. Go for an early morning walk on Monday or hit the gym before beginning work. Those who regularly exercise know its positive impact. Regular exercise also makes you feel happier.
  4. Make some White Space available in your calendar. White Space is a free space in your calendar to accommodate unexpected twists and turns, sudden urgencies and escalations. White Space helps you not get overwhelmed. As you gain better control over your work, you will see more and more White Space emerging in your daily calendar.
  5. Find time to do something you love every single day. Engaging in something you love on a regular basis keeps you motivated. Find your Pockets of Pleasure.

As an overall approach to beat the blues, be ahead of the game. Be good at what you do. Plan and execute well and learn from feedback.

A healthy corpus of self-confidence makes you look forward to the day, even if it is a Monday.
