Happy Women’s Day!
On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, I recall an incident.
In my last corporate role as the Global Head of Learning & Development in an MNC, I was in a training room addressing a group of employees.
I was about to show them the video, ‘The Miracle Man’ when our CEO from the US entered the room and sat in the audience.
Not sure if any of you has watched this powerful video. It is about a man who survives a crash. The doctors give up on him. However, through his will power and grit, he not only survives but walks back home.
At the end of the video, while everyone was applauding, the CEO stood up, walked up to face the audience and spoke to them.
In her typical style she looked at me and said, ‘Well, I don’t understand why it should be ‘The Miracle MAN’. What about women? Why is the woman not spoken about?’
It was a tough one for me.
I gathered myself and said, ‘Well, doesn’t the word ‘miracle’ represent the woman?’
I was lucky to have come up with this one.
The CEO was obviously stumped.
She smiled and said, ‘You just can’t win an argument with this guy’ and left the room.
Well, to all the miracles in this world, a ‘Happy Miracle Day’!
